#Maryland_chat Policy
Maryland_chat is a fun place to visit with old friends and make new friends.
It is a channel that welcomes everyone, regardless of age, sex, race,
religion, sexual preference etc. In order to maintain this welcoming
atmosphere the following policy guidelines have been developed so that
everyone who joins the channel feels comfortable.
The ops in the channel, are there to monitor the
channel, ensuring that the guidelines are met.
KICKS
The channel ops are present to monitor the channel activity and ensure the
"chatting comfort" of our guests (*grin* that would be you..the channel
chatter). Our ops are well trained in the Martial IRC Arts (i.e. kicking)
and have a variety of kicks that they are not afraid to use IF a user
deserves it. Except in extreme cases of harassment, abusive language, or
such, a warning will be given either privately or publicly prior to a kick.
Maryland_Chat ops reserve the right to kick or ban a user without warning
for EXTREME "violations" of any policy .
BANS
A user will be banned for continuing to use profane or abusive language,
harassing channel users, flooding, ICMP'ing etc. In most cases, a ban will
be placed on a user only after he/she has been warned and kicked however...
Maryland_Chat ops reserve the right to kick or ban a user without warning
for EXTREME "violations" of any policy. . It is not the ops sole purpose to
kick/ban. They are simply moderators of the channel. If the harrassment
continues, a domain ban will be placed and a log of your actions forwarded
to the ISP for their action. This action can include the possible
cancellation of your account by your ISP.
REMOVAL OF BANS
The only op who can Remove a Ban from a user, is the op who set the ban on
the user. Therefore if you have been banned by @Mdop, only @Mdop
will unban you. Please do not apply to other ops to have bans removed. In
some cases, Domain bans have been set, only channel administrators can set a
Domain ban...and again, only the Administrator who set the ban can remove
the ban.
APPEALING A BAN
If you feel that you or your Domain have been unfairly treated or banned
from #Maryland_Chat you can "plead your case" by sending email to [email protected]
A Channel Administrator will respond to your email within
14 days. It is not the ops sole purpose to kick/ban. They are simply
moderators of the channel.
LANGUAGE
The use of profane, derogatory or abusive language is not acceptable in
#Maryland_Chat. In most cases, the user will receive a private or public
reminder of this policy. Should the language continue, the user will be
kicked. Continued use of profane language is grounds for a ban to be placed
on the user.
HARASSMENT
Harassment in the channel, whether it be harassment of ops or other users,
will not be tolerated. If a user feels he/she is being harassed in private
chat, send a TIME STAMPED log of the chat to an active op. The ops can
instruct you with commands to ignore , or in extreme cases , the ops will
take further as they deem necessary.
CHANNELS
In general, the channels that users choose to participate in , are the users
private business. In SOME cases, however, we reserve the right to ask a user
to leave either our channel or a channel that is deemed to be objectionable.
Objectionable is essentially defined as a channel that is related to an
illegal activity. Examples are..Porn channels-Kiddie, Rape, Animal,etc .
and other channels that the ops may deem objectionable, such as Hate
channels. Refusal to leave the channel will result in a kick/ban.
WAREZ
The discussion and/or trading of WAREZ is not permitted in the channel. A
warning will be given followed by a kick and/or ban at the discretion of the
ops on channel at the time.
ADVERTISING
Mass invites or advertising of any kind are not permitted on #Maryland_Chat.
A warning will be given followed by a kick and/or ban at the discretion of
the ops in the channel at the time. If you have an event that you would like
advertised, please contact the channel manager for permission.
GENERAL NETIQUETTE GUIDELINES
Common sense will tell you what is appropriate and what is not. Please feel
comfortable sending a query to an op if you have any questions about
netiquette. A few tips for you here:

SUMMARY
Maryland_Chat is a place for fun clean chat. It was originally started as a
FAMILY CHANNEL. Alot of the channels on the net are filled with crude
chat/sex talk. We dare to be different. If you find our guidelines to be
acceptable and conducive to friendly chatting, then come on in! If you find
them to be rigid or offensive in some way, then please do a /list and
somewhere among the 6,000+ channels on the Undernet you'll find the right
one for you!
